VOLUNTEER PROCESS

KIDCO PARENTS

These are parents, acting parents, and guardians who are able to dedicate time to be involved in their child’s educational growth and have an impact on their child’s school by volunteering in the class, at the site, in a parent group, or on Policy Council.

NOTE: Due to state childcare licensing regulations, other children may not accompany parent volunteers.

Next Steps:

  1. Kidco Volunteer Application

  2. Kidco TB Screening Required once 15+ hrs is reached

  3. Submit TB Screening Results to Parent, Family and Community Engagement Specialist

  4. Kidco Volunteer Handbook

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS

  • Community Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

SCHOOL-AGE VOLUNTEERS

These are students under the age of 18 that are a part of a school or organized community program giving their time and skills to benefit the Head Start program while also receiving the benefits of learning experiences.

  • If over 18, considered a Community Volunteer even if still in high school.

  • Site supervisors and the Parent, Family & Community Engagement Specialist must approve school-age volunteers prior to placement.

COMMUNITY GUESTS AND VISITORS

These are occasional guests who want to volunteer but cannot commit to a schedule. This can be a storyteller, student observer, etc.

Guests cannot visit more than 4 hours per year, with supervisor approval. If over 4 hours they are Community Volunteers.

  • They must always be under the direct supervision of a Kidco Head Start staff person.
