HEALTH ADVOCATE

Kids and Company of Linn County (Kidco Head Start/Early Head Start) provides a comprehensive preschool program in Linn and Benton counties for children from low-income families and children with special needs. Kidco Head Start is now accepting applications for the following position in Linn and Benton counties:

WAGE:            $14.55 per hour w/ 6% increase for demonstrated Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency. 

HOURS:          35 per week depending on placement/classified non-exempt

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.  Associates degree; or High School Diploma/GED and two years’ experience in the medical/social service/health care field; or satisfactory combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to maintain written and computerized record keeping systems in an organized and accurate manner; possess exceptional organizational skills.

  • Moderate to advanced skill in working with Microsoft Office programs; ability to compose professional level correspondence, reports and documentation with computer supported applications. 

  • Sensitivity to individual and group needs of adults and children in target areas.

  • Must be enrolled in the Child Care Division’s Central Background Registry and obtain an Employee Health Appraisal (which includes TB screening)

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with staff, families and community members.

  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and available transportation; must meet agency insurability criteria for driving program vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prevention and Early Intervention:  Monitor child files for consent forms, complete health screenings, track and follow up with required screenings, enter all data into agency database. Track immunizations and updated agency database from Alert IIS System; assist in coordination of consultant services at the center; review all medical statement information collected at enrollment visit regarding special diet and follow up with nutrition staff; review all Request for Medication Administration forms, and work with center supervisor to formulate medical protocol. 

Recordkeeping and Reporting: Document and track follow up needs in the areas of health, dental, nutrition, hearing and vision concerns; document all significant parent contacts regarding health/nutrition; ensure timely and accurate data entry in agency database; complete reporting requirements; summaries and reports as required.
