ASSISTANT TEACHER EHS

Kids and Company of Linn County (Kidco Head Start/Early Head Start) provides a comprehensive preschool program in Linn and Benton counties for children from low-income families and children with special needs. Kidco Early Head Start is now accepting applications for the following position in the Corvallis area:

WAGE:         $12.67 per hour (additional 6% increase for bilingual Spanish/English) This position is classified non-exempt.

HOURS:        40 hours per week; August through June annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AA/BS/BA degree in ECE or related field with coursework or training in infant/toddler development that meets Head Start requirements, OR current Infant/Toddler CDA.

  • Experience working with 0-3 year old children in a developmentally appropriate child care setting.

  • Experience developing curriculum and planning and scheduling appropriate activities.

  • Ability to maintain educational record keeping systems.

  • Must be enrolled in the Child Care Division’s Central Background Registry

  • Current First Aid/CPR and Food Handlers cards within 30 days of hire

  • Must obtain an Employee Health Appraisal (which includes TB screening)

  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred

  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and available transportation; must meet agency insurability criteria for driving program vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with infants and toddlers: Provide a safe and consistent care environment by demonstrating appropriate, effective group and individual management skills; support Educator I in implementing individualized child and group activities.

Home/EHS Partnership: Work with families in a positive, respectful, non-judgmental atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental engagement.

Recordkeeping and Curriculum Development: Work with Educator I to establish lesson plans that reflect individual and group needs.

Additional Job Responsibilities: Be a contributory team member; adhering to company code of conduct and confidentiality policies and demonstrate commitment to company mission, values, and policies in performance of daily duties.
