LEAD COACH

WAGE: $17.39 per hour classified non-exempt

HOURS: 27 hours per week/ minimum two week layoff during summer

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.  Official transcripts will be required to verify education.  

  • A minimum of three years’ experience teaching experience at the preschool level. This experience must include: training staff, classroom operations, planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum, and tracking and evaluation of children’s individual development.  

  • Ability to obtain CLASS Reliability within designated time frame and maintain certification annually. 

  • Experience working with children with mental health/special needs and/or disabilities.  

  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and School Readiness Goals.  

  • Demonstrated professional level organizational, record-keeping, and computer skills. Ability to delegate responsibility and to work with others and coach them to develop their capabilities 

  • Must be enrolled in the Child Care Division’s Central Background Registry and obtain an Employee Health Appraisal (which includes TB screening)  

  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and available transportation; must meet agency insurability criteria for driving program vehicles. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Support on-boarding process for new education staff as developed by the Education Coordinator: in collaboration with and subject to the oversight of ECE Supervisors and Education Coordinator, provide coaching and mentoring to assigned classroom staff on the CLASS domains of Emotional Support, Classroom Organization and Instructional Support; Additional coaching areas may include classroom environments, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and other areas as requested by the Education Coordinator. Work with assigned education staff to develop individualized goals and objectives. At the discretion of staff direct supervisor, provide ongoing assistance to support implementation. Submit coaching plans to review with the supervisor or Education Coordinator to assess progress. Implement Practice-Based Coaching with assigned education staff through modeling of effective teaching practices, focused observation, shadowing, and video observation. Maintain coaching documentation to include, meeting and observation notes and monthly tracking of mentor/coaching activities for review by Education Coordinator.
