PARENT, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Kids and Company of Linn County (Kidco Head Start/Early Head Start) provides a comprehensive preschool program in Linn and Benton counties for children from low-income families and children with special needs. Kidco Head Start is now accepting applications for the following position:

WAGE:         $3483.00 per month/classified Exempt

HOURS:       40 hours per week/ minimum two week layoff during summer

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or related field, OR Associates Degree w/experience equating to a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related field. Official transcripts will be required to verify education.

  • Demonstrated experience with teaching or training skills.

  • Sensitivity to individual and group needs of adults and children in target areas.

  • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with families.

  • Ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team with staff, families and community members.

  • Demonstrated professional level organizational, record-keeping, and computer skills.

  • Must be enrolled in the Child Care Division’s Central Background Registry

  • Must obtain an Employee Health Appraisal (which includes TB screening)

  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and available transportation; must meet agency insurability criteria for driving program vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Service Area Direction and Compliance: Development, composition and implementation of written policies, procedures forms and guidance; Serve as the resident expert and resource to staff, families and community partners within designated service areas. Provide and/or arrange training and assistance according to needs identified through site/monitoring visits.

  • Family and Community Engagement Compliance: Ensure overall program compliance in Parent, Family and Community Engagement. Complete local, regional and federal reports as requested by supervisor. Work with all service areas to ensure consistent and ongoing parent and family engagement efforts; develop and coordinate parent and community volunteer projects internally and through community partnerships; provide support to parent Policy council.
