BOOKKEEPER

Kids and Company of Linn County (Kidco Head Start/Early Head Start) provides a comprehensive preschool program in Linn and Benton counties for children from low-income families and children with special needs. Kidco Head Start is now accepting applications for the following position in the Lebanon:

WAGE:          $14.93 per hour/classified non-exempt

HOURS:         40 hours per week/minimum two week layoff during June/July

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Education requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and minimum one year experience in full cycle bookkeeping.

  • Experience with ADP payroll preferred; Experience with Fund EZ preferred.

  • Demonstrated skill and ability with MS Office, Excel spreadsheets, accounting software and data base systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, while maintaining a professional demeanor. Strong organization, recordkeeping and time management skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of double entry bookkeeping and fund accounting with high degree of accuracy.

  • Must be enrolled in the Child Care Division’s Central Background Registry

  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and available transportation; must meet insurability criteria for driving program vehicles.

  • Must obtain an Employee Health Appraisal (which includes TB screening)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounts Payable/Receivable:  Review vouchers and match with invoices and payment authorizations, utilize Fund EZ software to process invoices, accurately code all entries. Prepare manual checks of payments, maintain and balance cash disbursements journal, audit and correct insurance/benefit billings.

Payroll: Calculate, process and ensure distribution of paychecks utilizing the computerized ADP payroll system.

Generate and audit all payroll activity reports, follow required retention schedules. Verify ADP tax reports and Submission, ensure wages are paid in full compliance with wage and hour laws. Prepare monthly retirement plan Worksheet and submit payment.

Recordkeeping and Reporting: prepare monthly financial reports and financial status reports, prepare audit reports, work with outside agency auditors, prepare and disseminate monthly general ledgers. Complete all duties in accordance with program confidential policy.
